Waipio captured the 2014 Hawaii State 10-11 Little League Championship after defeating Pearl City 13-5 on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Aikahi Elementary School (Norman Aweau Field) in Kailua. Waipio capped an impressive championship tournament run with a perfect 4-0 record. Pearl City had a great tournament finishing at 3-2 with both loses to champion Waipio in the double elimination championship tournament. Pearl City earned their way to the championship title game and another shot at Waipio after running away with a 21-11 win over Kaneohe on Tuesday, July 15.
Vincent Ogasawara earned the championship win on the hill for Waipio. Pinemua Epenesa got the start for Pearl City.
Waipio wasted no time getting on the scoreboard scoring four in the top of the first inning that opened up an early 4-0 lead over Pearl City. Waipio scored another run in the top of the second inning to take a 5-0 lead.
Pearl City came back strong in the bottom of the second inning scoring four runs to pull within one run of Waipio at 5-4.
Waipio answered back with a five-runs in the top of the third inning that was highlighted by Hunter Sasaki 's 2-run home run blast over the center field fence.
Pearl City scored a single run in the bottom of the third inning.
Waipio scored three more runs in the top of the sixth inning to end all scoring.
