In a battle of two undefeated teams atop the Oahu Interscholastic Association Red Western Girls Varsity Volleyball Division, the Pearl City Lady Chargers proved that they are truly the real deal after last night's thrilling 2-1 (25-22, 21-25, 15-12) road victory over the defending OIA Red Division Champion Mililani Lady Trojans.

Pearl City remained unbeaten with last night's win and is currently tied with Leilehua in first place at 3-0 in the OIA Red Western Division. Mililani falls to 2-1 and sits in second place in league standings.

Pearl City and Mililani traded the first two games with the Lady Chargers coming out strong in game one to stun the Lady Trojans 25-22.

Mililani stormed back in game two, building an early lead and run, but the Lady Chargers fought back hard before dropping the set by four points 21-25.

The Lady Trojans came out in the final rally scoring set to take an early lead but again, the Lady Chargers showed no fear and went to work. Pearl City tied the game at 6-6. Scoring went back and forth until the Lady Chargers went up 13-12 and scored the last two points for the 15-12 win.

The 2014 Lady Chargers squad is a really special bunch of volleyball players. They’re young, but so far this season they've played with confidence and know how to battle as a team and score as a team. I’m truly impressed. Second year Lady Chargers Head Coach Bryan Camello and his staff have an exciting season ahead and a great bunch of student athletes to work with and bond with as they make a run towards the post season.

The Lady Chargers will travel to Campbell High School to take on the Lady Sabers (1-2) on Tuesday, September 16.

The Lady Trojans hit the road Tuesday, September 16 to take on the Lady Mules (3-0) at Leilehua High School.

Blue Division tips off at 5:30pm with the Junior Varsity and Varsity to follow.

Let’s get out and support the Lady Chargers!
