Roy and Kathy Sakuma received  the 2014 Distinguished Peacemaker Award on Sunday, September 21, 2014 during a ceremony held at the UH Urban Garden Center in Pearl City. The Sakuma's were honored during the annual Peace Day Hawaii celebration at the Urban Garden Center  for their commitment to mankind through the Roy Sakuma Ukulele Studio and beauty of the ukulele that serves as their global instrument of peace.

Students from the Roy Sakuma Ukulele Studio played along with their teacher to the delight of the crowd who filled the newly created outdoor amphitheater located on the UH UGC Peace Garden path.

Sista Sherry hosted the hour long Distinguished Peacemaker Award Ceremony that was presented by UH-CTAHR- University of Hawaii College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources.

The 2014 Distinguished Peacemaker Award Ceremony ended with Roy Sakuma and his students playing and singing to "I Am What I Am" an original composition by Roy Sakuma that serves as his message of hope that comes directly from the heart and guides his mission in life to spread peace, love, and friendship from the four strings of the ukulele that delivers the beauty and sounds of Aloha.

Congratulations Roy and Kathy!
