Nanakuli remains perfect at 6-0 after beating Pearl City 28-21 in OIA D2 Football

Nanakuli defeated Pearl City 28-21 Friday night at Nanakuli High School to take sole possession of first place in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Division 2 varsity football regular season standings.

The Golden Hawks scored 21 unanswered second half points to erase a 21-7 first half deficit to beat the Chargers on the Golden Hawks Homecoming Night. The win also sent the Golden Hawks senior class players out with a win as they played in their last home game of their careers.

Nanakuli ran their league record to a perfect 6-0 while the Chargers fell to 5-1.

Nanakuli's Makaila Haina-Horswill was difference and workhorse in the second half scoring rushing touchdowns of 5 yards in the 3rd quarter, 20 yards to tie the score and 34 yards to win the game in the 4th quarter. Haina-Horswill finished game rushing for 130 yards on 15 carries.

Pearl City's Dominic Maneafaiga scored 2 receiving touchdowns, one in both the first and second quarters. Maneafaiga caught 4 passes for 78 yards and 2 TD's. Manefaiga also rushed for 94 yards on 19 carries.

Pearl City QB Jordan led the Chargers air attack completing 13 of 24 for 166 yards and 3 TD's.

Nanakuli signal caller Kale Kanehailua completed 14 of 28  for 141 yards.

Pearl City and Nanakuli will finish out the regular season with two games remaining in the next couple of weeks on their schedules.

The Chargers host Kalani on Friday, October 3 (Homecoming)  and Kalaheo on Friday, October 10.

The Golden Hawks hit the road to take on Radford at Roosevelt  on Friday, October 3 and Kalani on Saturday,  October 11 at Kaiser.

4 passes for 78 yards and 2 touchdowns to lead the Chargers.

Pearl City wide receiver Garrett Kanamu scored ther Chargers first touchdown on a 4 yard

TD reception from Jordan Taamu with 7:08 on the clock in the f irst quarter. Joseph Komomua

converted the PAT to put the Chargers up 7-0. Kanamu caught 3 passes for 38 yards and 1 TD.

Keanu Momoa scored the Golden Hawks first touchdown on a 12 yard TD reception from

Kale Kanehailua at 11:57 of the second quarter. Clifford Cunningham converted the PAT.
