Rotary Club of Pearlridge Dictionary 5000 Project well underway in Pearl City & Aiea schools

The Rotary Club of Pearlridge recently began to distribute free dictionaries to third grade students, their teachers, and school aides in both the Pearl City and Aiea school districts as a part of the annual Rotary International Dictionary 5000 Project.

Rotary Club of Pearlridge community service volunteers have so far made presentations to four schools in the past two weeks beginning with Momilani Elementary School on Tuesday, September 23, Waiau Elementary School on Tuesday, September 30, and St. Elizabeth School and Pearl Ridge Elementary School on Thursday, October 2.

Pearlridge Rotarians will make free dictionary presentations to 12 elementary schools in the months of October and November. The dictionaries are generously being donated by the Rotary Club of Pearlridge membership.

The Rotary Club of Pearlridge will also award a $100 check to one boy and one girl who best exemplify Rotary International's "Service Above Self" and the Principles of the "Four Way Test". The students will be chosen by their teachers and presented their cash awards by the Pearlridge Rotarians at the end of the 2014-2015 school year.

Principles of the "Four Way Test:

1.  Is it the truth;
2.  Is it fair to all concerned,
3.  Will it bring good will and better friendships
4.  Will it be beneficial to all concerned.

Each dictionary features the Four Way Test which is attached to the inside front cover for the students to use as reference tool.
