OIA BOWLING CHAMPS! Pearl City Boys & Girls Strike Again!

Oct 17, 2014 | PC Sports

It was another amazing display of talent and teamwork yesterday afternoon as the Pearl City Chargers rolled their way to the Oahu Interscholastic Association Boys and Girls Bowling Championships held at the Schofield Lanes in Wahiawa. Ryan Kajihiro and Chelsi Morishige won the boys and girls individual titles. Morishige is also the defending girls state champion.

After going undefeated in the regular season, the Chargers added last week's OIA Western Division Championship titles wins for both the boys and girls teams. The Chargers, while enjoying last night's victories, will take their championship momentum and experience into be the HHSAA State Bowling Championships to be held in Kona on the Big Island from Thursday, October 30 through Saturday, November 1.

What's truly impressive is the bowling programs success and the dynasty that they have built under the leadership of both James Hayashi (Boys Head Coach), and Millie Gomes (Girls Head Coach). Year after year, the Chargers reload their rosters with underclassmen that are called into duty to play an intergral role in defending the previous year's championship titles. Coach Hayashi and Coach Gomes are the best in the business in teaching and molding future champions.

OIA Championships in a row:

The Pearl City Chargers boys team captured their 5th OIA team championship in a row. They are also the 4X defending state champions. Ryan Kajihiro, 2014 OIA Boys Champion.

The Lady Chargers won their 4th OIA team championship in a row and are the 3X defending state champions. Chelsi Morishige, 2014 OIA Girls Champion, defending state champion.
