The Pearl City Lady Chargers advanced to the Oahu Interscholastic Association D1 Soccer Championship Quarterfinals after defeating the Roosevelt Lady Rough Riders 3-1 on Monday in the opening round at Pearl City High School.
Pearl City's Nikki Suwa opened scoring in the first minute to give the Lady Chargers an early 1-0 lead. The Lady Chargers struck gold again on a goal by Randi Fontes in the 5th minute to go up 2-0. The Lady Roug Riders scored on a penalty kick by Caitlin Tatemichi in the 39th minute and Brittny Ihara closed out scoring for the Lady Chargers on a corner pass by Randi Fontes in the 45th minute.
Pearl City will play OIA East Champion and East #1 seed Kahuku tonight in a quarterfinal match at 7:00pm at Kahuku High School.
