Lady Chargers stop Waiakea 2-1, advance to state soccer quarterfinals

Brittny Ihara kicked in the winning goal in 73rd minute to lift Pearl City over Waiakea of the BIFF 2-1 tonight in the opening round of the HHSAA State Girls Division I Soccer Championship Tournament played at Kamehameha Schools Kapalama campus.

With the win over Waiakea, Pearl City advanced to Saturday's quarterfinals against #2 seed Campbell at KS-Kapalama at 4:00pm.

Waiakea's Cierra Toledo-Muragin got the Lady Warriors on the scoreboard early in the fourth minute to take a 1-0 lead. Pearl City tied the game at 1-1 on a goal by Bethany Nazareno in the 31st minute. Ihara's late second half goal sealed the win for the Lady Chargers.
