AIO’S NEW AND NUTRITIOUS ICE CREAM INNOVATION TO HIT STORES STATEWIDE

aio today announced the launch of Brio®, a richly delicious, smartly nutritious ice cream product offered by its subsidiary, Nutricopia, and distributed by Meadow Gold® Dairy. Brio is now available statewide at stores including Foodland, Foodland Farms, Sack N Save, KTA Super Stores, Pukalani Superette and the Waikoloa Village Market, following a successful soft launch at KTA Super Stores and Waikoloa Village Market on the Big Island in January.

The idea of an ice cream that is both healthy and delicious originated with twin brothers Arnie and Ron Koss, founders of Earth’s Best, the first organic baby food company in the nation. To pursue their dream of a better-for-you ice cream, Ron led the product development team that included former Ben & Jerry’s top flavor developers and noted nutritionists, in a process that spanned 10 years and garnered two patents.

Certified gluten free, non-GMO and low glycemic, Brio is touted for its flavorful wholesome ingredients. Brio is naturally flavored with organic salted caramel with Madagascar vanilla, real cocoa, real coffee and real mango and strawberry. Brio is free of artificial sweeteners, flavors or colors and does not contain stevia, monk fruit or erythritol.

“Brio has a rich and creamy texture, but with half the total fat and 25–30 percent less calories (just 160 to 170 calories in a serving) than super premium ice cream,” said Arnie Koss, president of Nutricopia Inc.

Brio has a long list of nutritional benefits — it contains balanced Omega 3, 6, 9s, six grams of protein and two grams of fiber. Brio is also antioxidant-rich and provides an excellent source of calcium, magnesium and Vitamin D, with 25 essential micronutrients in all, including folic acid.

“Brio expands the eating occasions for ice cream,” said Koss. ”Brio offers a richly satisfying dessert, a smart after-school snack, a nutrient-rich boost for a smoothie or shake, a performance nutrition choice for athletes, a convenient option when you’re too busy for a regular meal and a yummy alternative to nutrition drinks.”

“We’re excited to make this new and innovative product available on our shelves,” said Derek Kurisu, executive vice president of KTA Super Stores. “With so many focused on living a healthy and wellness-oriented lifestyle, we feel it’s important to provide our customers with wholesome and nutritious options like Brio.”

Brio is available in Spring Strawberry, Vanilla Caramel, Coffee Latte, Tropical Mango and Mellow Dark Chocolate, in convenient 4 oz. single-serve and 14 oz. small pint sizes.
