Kang’s 5th inning grand slam powers Pearl City over Leilehua 5-1

Natalie Kang powered a bottom of the fifth inning grand slam homerun to lead Pearl City over Leilehua 5-1 in Oahu Interscholastic Association Western Division softball played on Tuesday at Pearl City High School.

Tyanna Kaaialii earned the win for Pearl City in seven complete innings. Kaaialii allowed one run on five hits with eight strikeouts and four walks.

Chelsea Lobitos took the loss in six innings for Leilehua. Lobitos allowed five runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

Leading Hitters: Leilehua –  Chelsea Lobitos 1-3, Run; Tiana Cantero-Kawelo 1-4; Rickelle Ladao 1-3; Gwen Maeha 1-2; Shanaye Mattson 1-3.  Pearl City — Natalie Kang 1-2, HR; Darian Obara 2-3, Run: Kylie Tasaki 2-3, Run; Taylor Shigeta 1-3, Run; Hope Casarez 1-4, 2b.

Pearl City improved to 4-2 in league play. Leilehua falls to 2-3.

Leilehua returns to action on Saturday, March 28 against Mililani at Central Oahu Regional Park (CORP) in Waipahu at 7:00pm.

Pearl City will host Mililani on Tuesday, March 31 with first pitch scheduled for 3:00pm.

with two strikeouts and two walks. Lobitos also batted 1-3 with a run scored.
