The Mililani Trojans came out on top in a battle with the visiting Pearl City Chargers last night 25-13, 25-27, 15-10 in OIA West Division 1 varsity boys' volleyball played before a packed house at the Mililani High School gymnasium.
Mililani cruised to victory in game one (25-13). Mililani had the serve for the win at 24-21 in the second game but Pearl City fought off the Trojans to win the game 25-27 behind a tough Chargers defense at the net and a kill by PJay Solomon that put the Chargers up 25-26. Pearl City won game two on Mililani's Sili Fuiava's cross court kill attempt that landed outside the line.
The Trojans got back to game one form by taking game three 15-10 in rally scoring
Mililani improved to 5-1 in league play while Pearl City fell below .500 at 2-3.
Both teams return to league play at home on Tuesday, March 31 with Mililani taking on Radford (2-3) and Pearl City going up against Aiea (2-3). The junior varsity is scheduled for 5:30pm with the varsity contest to follow.
