Celebrate Hawai‘i’s culture, native plants, and sustainable lifestyles at the Grow Hawaiian Festival on Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Bishop Museum. Presented by Hawaiian Electric, the family-oriented event offers a day filled with fascinating crafts, creative learning opportunities, activities for keiki, ‘ono food, and Hawaiian music and hula.

Learn how to use native plants to make lei, weave lauhala, print kapa, and craft traditional implements.

Buy native plants and talk to the O‘ahu Master Gardeners about growing them.

Hear a presentation by the Polynesian Voyaging Society at 10:15 a.m.,and get an update on Hōkūle‘a’s worldwide voyage.

Experience Bishop Museum’s planetarium exhibit Wayfinders: Waves, Winds, and Stars. The 45-minute program, repeated throughout the day, puts you on the deck of the Hōkūle‘a, exploring traditional Polynesian navigation and finding your way from Hawai‘i to Tahiti.

Shop the farmers’ market for fresh produce and Hawaiian honey, and buy products made by local vendors, including Project Runway finalist Kini Zamora.

Keiki can pound poi, make block prints, play a Hawaiian flute, participate in makahiki games, play games to win prizes, and learn about electrical safety, clean energy, and conservation.

Relax with a lomilomi massage, then spread out on the lawn to eat some ‘ono local-style food and taste how Aloha Plate won Food Network’s season four Great Food Truck Race.

Enjoy hula performances by hālau Nā Pualei O Likolehua and Ke Kai O Kahiki, plus the beautiful music of Kūpaoa and Natalie Ai Kamauu.

Be sure to complete the festival’s “Sustainability Passport” and enter to win a GoPro® camera.
