The community is invited to join the Newtown Neighborhood Security Watch and HPD who will be participating in a CTAP – Community Traffic Awareness Program sign-waving event on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, from 4-5PM on Ka’ahele Street at the entrance to the Newtown Recreation Center.
The event is being conducted to help bring awareness and to remind motorists to slow down, drive safely, and to watch out for pedestrians in crosswalks as commuters travel through our Aiea and Pearl City neighborhoods.
This area project began back in 2011 as a collaboration between HPD, former State Representative K. Mark Takai, and community residents after a Newtown resident died from injuries after being struck by a car while walking in a cross walk on Ka'ahele Street near the entrance to the Newtown Recreation Center.
Join us on Tuesday, April 28, 4pm – 5pm on Ka’ahele Street at the entrance to the Newtown Recreation Center. HPD will provide the signs.
