Pearl City defeated Waipio 7-3 on Saturday, June 13 at the Hawaii District 7 Little League Minors Championship Tournament played at Puuloa Field in Ewa Beach.
Drew Boyles pitched four complete innings to earn the win for Pearl City. Eli Oshiro pitched the fifth and sixth innings in relief of Boyles to earn the save.
With the win, Pearl City advances to Tuesday's championship rounds via the winner’s bracket. Waipio dropped into the loser’s bracket of the double elimination formatted tournament.
Saturday's match-up was a well-played ball game with both teams showing off their power and speed.
Pearl City's Bishop Foumai and Caleb Lauifi both left the yard with Foumai launching a 2-run homer in the bottom of the second inning that tied the game at 2-2, and Lauifi powered a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning that put Pearl City up 6-3.
