Today, Wednesday, August 12, 2015, Pearl City Little League was crowned the 2015 Junior Division Western Regional Little League Champions!!!
Pearl City, Hawaii defeated Manhattan Beach, Southern California 2-1, in 10 innings of extra play. In the 1st inning, each team would score 1 run, knotting the game 1-1. The game continued tied 1-1 with tough pitching and defense. No runs would score until the bottom of the 10th inning, when short stop Chaesten Chon’s powerful hit to right field scored Rayson Carriaga from 2nd base for a walk-off double to end the game!
Pearl City started pitcher Cade Halemanu on the mound for this Western Regional Championship game. Halemanu pitched one heck of a game, lasting till the 7th inning before hitting his 95 pitch count limit and being relieved by Carter Hirano. Hirano continued where Halemanu left off and closed the game for the Pearl City with a victory.
Pearl City Little League (6-0) in Western Regional tournament play had outscored its opponents 64-10.
Pearl City Little League will now represent the Western Region in the Junior World Series Little League tournament held in Taylor Michigan, August 16-23. Pearl City, Hawaii (USA West) will kick off the World Series tournament vs. USA East on Sunday, August 16th 11:00 am EST.
