PEARL CITY LITTLE LEAGUE OPENS WITH A WIN IN 2015 JUNIOR LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES TOURNAMENT!

Pearl City, Hawaii representing USA West defeated Ridgewood, New Jersey (USA East) today 9-7 in the opening game of the 2015 Junior Little League World Series tournament in Taylor, Michigan.

Pearl City fell behind early in this game 0-3 after the 1stinning of play.   Pearl City, Hawaii then erupted with 9 runs in the bottom of the 3rdinning to recapture the lead from New Jersey 9-3.   New Jersey closed the gap with 1 additional run in the 4th, 2 runs in the 5th, and 1 more run in the 6th.  Pearl City was able to hold off a tough New Jersey team 9-7 in 7 complete innings.

Pearl City started Chaesten Chon on the mound for this opening game vs. USA East and eventually was relieved by Joey “Cello” Casarez, Caleb Young, and Carter Hirano.

Pearl City (1-0) continues World Series play tomorrow, Monday, August 17thvs. USA Southwest representative Weslaco, Texas (0-1) @ 2pm Hawaii time.

On Saturday, August 15, 2015 the Junior Little League World Series held the opening ceremony for this tournament in Taylor, Michigan.  10 teams from around the world are represented, and the ceremony concluded with a spectacular fireworks show to kick-off the tournament.
