Pearl City vs. Waialua OIA D2 varsity football game suspended due to lighting

Last night's Pearl City vs. Waialua OIA D2 varsity football game held at Pearl City High School's Edwin Bino Neves Stadium was suspended at 10:48 of the fourth quarter due to lightning. Waialua led Pearl City 14-12 when the game was called by officials.

Play is scheduled to resume on Monday, August 24 at 6pm at PCHS.

Pearl City QB Isaiah Asinsin led the Chargers offense for the second game in a row

while filling in for injured starting QB Kekainalu Simon. Asinsin tossed two touchdown

passes connecting with Israel Kaleo on a 25 yard TD strike at 4:48 of the second quarter that

put the Chargers up 6-0, followed by his second TD through the air on a 12 yard pass to

Kavosiee Mason that increased the Chargers lead to 12-0 at 6:29 of the third quarter.

The Bulldogs blocked a field goal attempt by Charger kicker Zameer Kahn early

in the fourth quarter that was picked up by Lancen Kuni and returned 90 yards

for a touchdown. The Bulldogs tacked on the PAT to take a 14-12 lead over

the Chargers. Waialua special teams also blocked a Pearl City PAT after the

Chargers first touchdown of the ball game.
