Last night was definitely a proud day for our Chargers and the fans as the boys played their hearts out and battled the Nanakuli Golden Hawks to the last click on the clock in OT. They played tough and actually took a 20-10 lead at the half.
Nanakuli won in OT 41-34 in an exciting OIA D2 clash played at Pearl City High School's Edwin Bino Neves Stadium.
Nanakuli tied the game at 34-34 on a 20 yard field by Golden Hawk kicker Clifford Cunningham as time expired in regulation play.
The Golden Hawks took first possession of the ball in OT and scored quickly on a five yard run by Sunshine Anuenue. Cunningham kicked through the PAT. The Golden Hawks went up 41-34.
The Chargers went on offense next behind QB Kekainalu Simon who got picked off in the end zone to end the game.
Nanakuli QB Nainoa Banks passed for 296 yards completing 16-28 with 3 touchdowns and 1 INT.
Pearl City QB Kekainalu Simon passed for 295 yards completing 21-46 with 5 touchdowns and 4 INT's.
Keanu Momoa led the Nanakuli receiving corps hauling in 5 receptions for 126 yards and 1 touchdown. Isain Wong-Lonzanida, 3 receptions, 79 yards, 1 TD and Clifford Cunningham, 3 receptions, 4 yards, 1 TD were top receivers in the game for the Golden Hawks.
Kavosiee Mason led the Chargers with 4 receptions for 82 yards and 1 TD. Cayman Amorin, 2 receptions, 64 yards, 1 TD, Patrick Nunez 3 receptions, 58 yards, 2 TD's, Dante Mcgee 7 receptions, 42 yards, Daniel Sarajina 2 receptions, 23 yards, and Joe Maneafaiga 2 receptions, 17 yards and 1 touchdown.
Nanakuli improved to a perfect 6-0 in OIA D2 league play while Pearl City fell to 2-4.
Pearl City also celebrated Homecoming Night and bid Aloha to the football and cheer team seniors who played and performed in their last regular season home game as a Charger.

The Chargers will hit the road for their final two regular season games.
