Pearl City loses battle with Kalani 22-8 in OIA D2 varsity football

The Pearl City Chargers and Kalani Falcons hooked up Saturday for an Oahu Interscholastic Association Division 2 varsity football showdown played at Kaiser High School. The Falcons stopped the Chargers 22-8 in a classic defensive battle.

Both teams were held under thirty yards of net offense through the air. Kalani QB Seth Tina completed 3 of 5 passes for 26 yards. Pearl City QB Isaiah Asinsin completed 3 of 14 for 28 yards with 3 INT's.

Pearl City and Kalani defenses applied constant pressure on the QB's. Pearl City's Christian Punsalan, Alosina Toomalatai, and Osa Talaifaga each recorded a sack apiece. Kalani's Raimana Toa-Delage and J. Titialii each had a sack for the Falcons.

On the ground, Kalani's Sean Silas led the game in rushing picking up 153 yards on 27 carries with 2 touchdowns.

Joe Maneafaiga led the Chargers ground game with 122 yards on 22 carries and 1 TD. Maneafaiga scored Pearl City's only touchdown on a 23 yard yard run with 5:11 left in the 4th quarter. PC QB Isaiah Asinsin connected with Kavosiee Mason for the 2-point conversion.

Pearl City falls to 2-5 while Kalani improves to 4-3 in league play.

Both teams finish out the regular season next week Friday, October 10 with Kalani traveling to Nanakuli and Pearl City taking on Kalaheo at Kailua High School.
