The U.H. Oahu Urban Garden Center celebrated the 22nd Annual Hawaiian Electric Arbor Day Tree and Shrub giveaway on Saturday in Pearl City.

The Oahu Urban Garden Center partnered with Hawaiian Electric and Kaulunani Urban and Community Forestry Program to give away over 500 trees and shrubs (one per family). The event opened at 7:00am with lines already forming at 6:00am for a chance to pick out a special tree or shrub while supplies lasted. The Arbor Day event also featured a plant sale to help raise funds for the OUGC.

UH Master Gardeners were on hand to answer the public’s questions and to help them select the right tree or shrub for their home gardens. They also provided a free planting guide handout.

Six locations across O‘ahu participated on Saturday in the Hawaiian Electric Arbor Day Tree and Shrub giveaway.
