MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I would like to send a very special mahalo (long overdue) to my friend Mark Brown who helped make a Christmas wish come true years ago. With only a few days remaining before Christmas Day, I was asked to design and construct a mantel as a Christmas gift to my family. How was I going to do that with no carpentry skills as well as tools? That's when I turned to Mark for help. He can build anything. Mark is also an extremely talented graphic artist.
Mark came to my house two days before Christmas and assessed the challenge ahead. We made a gamer plan and dove right in (all-nighter, just like a couple of Santa's elves. He masterfully created the work of art shown below. I held the hammer and paint brush. On Christmas Eve the mantel was placed in my living room when everyone was asleep. Mission accomplished!
Each Christmas, our ohana gathers around to decorate the mantel. It has become a tradition thanks to Mark.
