Mililani captures OIA soccer championship crown 2-1 over Pearl City

Mililani captured the 2015-2016 Oahu Interscholastic Association Girls Varsity Soccer Championship after defeating Pearl City 2-1 on Saturday at Kapolei High School.

Mililani's Kailana Kaeo broke a 1-1 tie scoring in 74th minute to put the Lady Trojans up 2-1 which proved to be the game winner.

Taylee Miyamura got Mililani on scoreboard 1-0 off of a corner kick at the 39th minute. Pearl City's Sunshine Fontes tied the game at 1-1 at the 45th minute on shot from 20 yards out. Fontes scored her 23rd goal of the season to tie teammate Daelenn Tokunaga as the Division 1 overall scoring leaders.

Mililani avenged an earlier regular season 3-2 loss to the Lady Chargers to win the OIA championship title. .

Both Mililani (12-1) and Pearl City (12-1) move on to the HHSAA Division 1 Girls Soccer Championships. Mililani enters the championship tournament as the defending state champions.

stopped play after 30 seconds, and following a brief discussion, awarded Mililani the goal.

The Lady Trojans took a 1-0 first half lead.

Fontes tied teammate Daelenn Tokunaga with 23 goals to lead Division 1 overall scoring.
