Lady Chargers blank Hilo 3-0, take on ILH Champ Iolani in state semifinals

Congratulations to the Pearl City Lady Chargers who advanced to the semifinals of the HHSAA State Girls Soccer Championship Tournament after blanking #3 Hilo 3-0 on Thursday in the quarterfinals played at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex.

Pearl City's scoring duo of Sunshine Fontes and Daelenn Tokunaga accounted for all three Lady Chargers goals. Fontes scored two goals (11:39, 70:15) to maintain her top ranking as the overall Division 1 scoring leader with 28 goals. Tokunaga kicked in one goal (22:04) to remain in second place behind Fontes with 25 goals.

The Lady Chargers will take on #2 Iolani on Friday at 5:00pm in the first of the doubleheader semifinals scheduled for the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex Main Stadium. Iolani defeated Pearl City 6-2 in a pre-season match-up. OIA Champion and #1 seed Mililani will battle #4 Baldwin at 7:00pm.
