Pearl City’s Okada goes the distance to beat Campbell 4-2

Pearl City knocked off Campbell 4-2 last night behind the arm of Carson Okada who pitched seven complete innings to defeat the defending state champions in OIA Western Division Varsity Baseball played at Hans L 'Orange Park in Waipahu. Pearl City improved to 2-0 in league play. Defending state champion Campbell fell to  0-2.

Okada pitched a gem for the Chargers allowing 2 runs on 8 hits with 5 strikeouts and a walk in a complete game performance.

Campbell starting pitcher Markus Ramos took the loss for Sabers. Ramos pitched three complete allowing all four Pearl City runs. Ayzek Silva, Chad Samante and Jamin Kalaola each pitched one inning in relief for the Sabers.

Matt Yokota got the Chargers on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning after stroking a RBI double to left field with one out that scored Colby Hirano from third base. 

The Chargers added three more runs in the top of the third inning. Davin Kapuras drove in Sam Prentice from third base to put the Chargers up 2-0. Trestan Nakamura drilled a 2 RBI single into right-center field with two outs that scored Davin Kapuras and Matt Yokota to increase the Chargers lead to 4-0.

The Sabers picked up their two runs of the ball game in the bottom of the third inning off of pair of RBI singles by Jordan Macias and Justin Fernandez that pulled the Sabers within two runs of the Chargers lead at 4-2.

Pearl City hits the road to take on Mililani on Wednesday, March 9 with first pitch scheduled for 3::00pm. Campbell travels to Leilehua on Friday, March 11. First pitch 3:00pm.
