Mililani's Jerae Keliikoa drove in Brooke Yasuda from third base with the game winning RBI single to centerfield in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Pearl City 2-1 on Thursday in a key OIA Western Division varsity softball match-up played at Mililani High School.
Mililani improved to 6-1 in OIA West regular season standings while Pearl City fell below .500 at 3-4.
Aubree Kim pitched a one-hitter in a complete game performance for Mililani. Kim allowed one run, on one hit, with eight strikeouts and five walks.
Tyanna Kaaialii took the loss for Pearl City. Kaaialii pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing one run, on four hits, with two strikeouts and three walks.
Pearl City took a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth inning on a RBI sac-fly to rightfield by Kylie Tasaki that scored Darian Obara from third base. Obara walked to lead off the inning and advanced to third basde on a sac ground out by Kristin Frost.
In the bottom of the sixth inning Mililani's Keri Togami led off the inning with a double into centerfield. Maya Yoshiura laid down a bunt and made it safely to first base after the throw to first was dropped by Lady Chargers first baseman Ana Cabato. Togami advanced to third base on the play. Pearl City intentionally walked Kristen Ishii to load the bases. Shannon Pascua-Stanton stroked a RBI single into leftfield scoring Togami to tie the game at 1-1.
in the bottom of the seventh Brooke Yasuda got on first base with a one out infield single. Teri Togumi advanced Yasuda to second base on a sac-bunt. Jerae Keliikoa stepped up to the plate with the score tied at 1-1 and ended it with her RBI single that scored Togumi for the 2-1 win.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Saturday, April 2 against Waipahu, 10:00am at Pearl City High School.
