The Pearl City Chargers made it 9 wins in a row sifter defeating the visiting Aiea Na Ali'i 9-5 on Friday at Pearl City High School. The Chargers pounded out 10 hits in the game led by Christian Onomura who batted 2-4,with a triple, 3 RBI, and 2 runs scored.
Pearl City remains in first place at 9-0 in the Oahu Interscholastic Interscholastic Association regular season standings. Aiea is tied with Campbell in third place at 3-5.
Carson Okada picked up the win for the Pearl City. Okada pitched six complete innings allowing two runs on five hits with two strikeouts. Kulia Neal pitched the seventh inning in relief for the Chargers. Neal allowed three runs on two hits.
Jarred Uyeda took the loss for Aiea. Uyeda pitched four complete innings allowing three runs on three hits with two strikeouts and three walks. Kobe Kato pitched three innings in relief of Uyeda allowing six runs on seven hits with one strikeout.
Kobe Kato led Aiea at the plate hitting 2-4, HR, 2 RBI, 2 runs.
Aiea took an early 2-0 lead on Kobe Kato's 2-run homerun in the bottom of the first inning. Kato led Aiea at the plate hitting 2-4, HR, 2 RBI, 2 runs.
Pearl City came back and tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the third inning on a RBI single by Sam Prentice that scored Ernest-Joshua Kam from third followed by a RBI sac-fly to centerfield by Davin Kapuras that scored Matt Aribal from third.
The Chargers picked up four runs in the top of the fifth inning and three more runs in top of the seventh inning to take a commanding 9-2 lead. The Na Ali'i answered with a three run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning but came up short.
Pearl City returns to league action on Wednesday, April 5 at Waipahu with first pitch scheduled for 3:00pm.
