Chargers 2016 West Division Champs!

Pearl City captured the  Oahu Interscholastic Association Western Division baseball crown with a 7-4 win over Mililani on Wednesday at Hans L ‘Orange Park in Waipahu. Before a packed stadium, and a live television audience, the top ranked Chargers proved once again that teamwork is the key component to successfully manufacturing wins as they moved to a perfect 11-0 while securing the divisions #1 seed in next week's OIA Championship Tournament.

From the mound, Chargers starting pitcher Trenton Darley earned the win improving his regular season win total to 6-0 with a 1.11 ERA. Darley pitched five innings allowing four runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and five walks. Carson Okada and Trestan Nakakmura backed up Darley with one inning of relief apiece to secure the win over a tough Mililani Trojans battery.

Sam Prentice led the Chargers attack at the plate batting 2-3 with a double, 2 RBI and a run scored. Matt Yokota 1-3, RBI and Trenton Darley 1-3 picked up the Chargers other two hits in the ball game.

Brennan Anzai took the loss for the Trojans in two innings allowing no hits, one run, with three strikeouts and three walks.

The Trojans picked up five hits against Charger pitching: Kaimana Souza-Paaluhi 1-4 triple, Keolu Ramos 1-1, triple, RBI, Blaine Demello 1-3,  Aris Nakagawa 1-4, Run, Ryan Kono 1-4, double, Run led the Trojans at the plate.

The Chargers will play their regular season finale on Saturday, April 16 at home against Leilehua. The Chargers will also bid Aloha to 10 seniors on Saturday.

Pearl City got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning after Davin Kapuras

laid down a bunt that was fielded by  the Mililani catcher and thrown away at first

base allowing Colby Hirano and Sam Prentice to score to put the Chargers up 2-0.
