Pearl City’s Kaaialii no-hits Moanalua in 17-1 (5) OIA championship tourney first round win

Pearl City's Tyanna Kaaialii tossed a no-hitter in the Lady Chargers 17-1 (5) win over the visiting Moanalua Lady Menehune on Wednesday in the opening round of the Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I Softball Championship Playoffs.

Kaaialii pitched four complete innings for the Lady Chargers allowing one run, no hits, six strikeouts and two walks.

Moanalua's Kyler Tsukada took the loss for the Lady Menehune. Tsukada pitched 2/3 innings allowing seven runs, three hits with one strikeout and three walks.  Shanelle Lum pitched 3 1/3 innings in relief allowing ten runs on six hits with two strikeouts and seven walks.

The Lady Chargers jumped on the Lady Menehune scoring eight runs in the first inning, four runs in  the second inning, a single run in the third inning, and four more runs in the fourth inning to put the game out of reach with the Lady Menehune down to their final three outs in the top of the fifth inning and down by 16 runs.

The Lady Chargers pounded out nine hits in the ball game.

W4 Pearl City will take on E1 Kaiser at Kaiser High School this afternoon in the championship tournament quarterfinals with first pitch scheduled for 3:00pm.
