Hawaii Robofest Regional where they captured first place. They will represent Hawaii
at the Robofest World Championships on May 13-14 in Detroit, Michigan.
Our other team PEACHES PRIDE will be competing at the Lego Land First Lego League North American Open in San Diego, California. They will be competing against 70 other teams from all over the world. They will be competing on May 20-22.
They got their invitation after winning 2nd place in the 2015 FLL State Tournament. This team was challenged this year by being their own independent team. They had little coaching from their coaches. They had to schedule their own practices, meet at each other's houses, resolve their issues, and do all of their research on their own.
This year's FLL theme is Trash Trek. Students have to come up with an innovative solution to a real world problem. Their focus was on reducing the volume that we put in our landfill by mixing the ash product from H-Power into concrete to make viable concrete while saving valuable landfill space. They were lucky enough to tour the Landfill, H-power Plant, Kiewit's The Rail project, and UH Manoa College of Engineering.
The students are proud to represent Hawaii and have been working really hard putting in practice hours before school and after school.
