Hirano knocks in winning run, sends Chargers to state baseball quarterfinals

Pearl City's Colby Hirano stroked the game winning two out RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning that scored Trestan Nakamura to lift the Chargers over Maui 1-0 in the opening round of the Wally Yonamine Foundation Hawaii State Division I Baseball Championship Tournament on Wednesday at Iron Maehara Stadium in Wailuku, Maui.

Trestan Nakamura earned the win in two innings of relief of starter Trenton Darley. Nakamura also batted 1-3 with a run scored (game winner). Nakamura allowed no runs, one hit with one strikeout.

Darley pitched eight complete innings allowing no runs, five hits with five strikeouts and one walk in a no decision.

Maui's Jyrah Lalim took the loss allowing one run, one hit, with one strikeout and two walks in 2/3 innings.

Maui's Orrion Suda led all hitters at the plate with a 2-4,, triple, performance.

Pearl City (15-1) moves on to today's quarterfinals and will face #4 seed Waiakea (15-2) at 1:30pm.
