Six run, 11th inning rally propels Pearl City past Mililani to reach state championship title game

The Pearl City Chargers continued their run through the Wally Yonamine Foundation Division I Baseball Championship Tournament on Friday with a heart pounding,  8-2 semifinal win over Mililani played at Maui's Iron Maehara Stadium in Wailuku. The Chargers exploded with a six run, top of the 11th inning rally that broke a 2-2 tie.

The Chargers (17-1) will take on #2 Baldwin (16-0) for the state championship on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 6:00pm at Iron Maehara Stadium. The championship will be televised live on OC 16.

Baldwin came from behind in the bottom of seventh inning .scoring two runs to defeat the Campbell Sabers 3-2 in the second semifinal game played on Friday. Campbell entered the championship tournament as the defending state champions.

Dillin Hasegawa earned the win for the Chargers pitching three complete innings while allowing no runs, two hits, with one strikeout and four walks.  Torey Chun got the start for Pearl City allowing two runs, six hits with two strikeouts and four walks in eight innings on the mound for the Chargers.

Koa Eastlack got the start for Mililani, pitching 10 innings, allowing two runs, six hits with seven strikeouts. Brennan Anzai suffered the loss. Anzai allowed four runs on five hits in the top of the eleventh inning that put Pearl City out in front of the Trojans 7-2. Shane Griffin gave up one run, one hit with one strikeout in relief of Anzai.
