Pearl City High School Athletics recently honored and recognized a group of student athletes for their outstanding performances during the 2015-2016 Fall, Winter, and Spring athletics sports calendar. It was a banner year for the PCHS athletics program after capturing multiple team and individual championship titles in both Oahu Interscholastic Association and Hawaii High School Athletics Association state championship competition.
Matthew Keopuhiwa was voted as the PCHS Male Athlete of the Year while Kristin Frost was honored as the PCHS Female Athlete of the Year. Matthew is a multi-sport athlete who was voted as Most Inspirational in Wrestling and MVP in Judo. Matthew captured the 2016 198 Lbs. individual state Judo championship title.
Kristin is also a multi-sport athlete and was voted Most Outstanding Bowler on the girls team and Co-MVP on the Lady Chargers Softball team. Kristin is a member of four Lady Chargers OIA and HHSAA State Team Championships. She is also an OIA and HHSAA Bowling all-star and most recently was voted to the State Softball First Team.
Kelsen Kobayashi and Leilani Yamanouchi were honored as Male and Female Scholar Athletes of the Year.
