Maldonado pitches complete game 5-0 shutout to lead Pearl City over West Side Hawaii

Trey Maldonado pitched a complete 7 inning 5-0 shutout over West Side Hawaii on Saturday to advance Pearl City to the 2016 Seniors Division Hawaii State Little League Championship game vs. Central East Maui on Sunday at Ala Wai Field. First pitch is schedule for 9:00am.

Pearl City suffered their first loss of the championship tournament to Central East Maui on Saturday 7-4, but came back in the afternoon to shut-out West Side Hawaii 5-0. Pearl City needs to pull off a doubleheader sweep over Central East Maui on Sunday to win the state championship crown and advance to the regionals on the mainland.

at 2-2 earlier in the inning with a 2 RBI double that scored Chaesten Chon and Cade Halemanu,

#20 breaks the 3-3 tie with a 2 RBI triple in the bottom

of the third inning that gave Central East Maui a 5-3 lead.



2016 50/70 Division Hawaii State Little League Championship Tournament

Pearl City lost their championship tournament opener 10-2 to Maui on Saturday at Pride Field in Kapolei. Pearl City drops into the losers' bracket and will face Kauai on Sunday at 12 noon. Winner advances to the state championship against Maui on Monday, July 4 at Pride Field at 10:00am. If Maui wins they will be crowned state champions. If Pearl City/Kauai wins,  they will force a winner-take-all championship game that will follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game on Monday.
