UPDATE: PCHS New Track & Field Construction

Aug 29, 2016 | PC Sports

If you have an ounce of Charger Pride, and bleed purple like I do, one look at the new track and field currently under construction at Pearl City High School's Edwin "Bino" Neves Stadium, will fill your soul with anticipation and excitement as you visualize what will soon become the most prestine high school sports stadium in the state.

I had the opportunity this past Sunday to sit down with Pearl City High School Athletic Director Reid Shigemasa for a quick update on the track and field construction that is projected to be completed by late November. The Chargers are hoping to play on the new synthetic turf field for this season's Homecominmg game scheduled for October 7. The new turf is currently being installed with the field letters, numbers, and logos soon to follow.

“Presently they are inserting the synthetic turf,” said Shigemasa. “They have basically the whole field laid out. Probably within a week or two they're going to start sewing in the logos and the letters and numbers that are purple. After that, they’re going to lay-out the rubber core and that will probably be the final stages. At that same time we’re looking at laying the asphalt all around the track area preparing for the synthetic track and field. We’re looking at the synthetic turf being ready hopefully by at least Homecoming on October 7, and maybe two to three weeks after that finalizing our track. Maybe by late November we’ll have the whole facility completed.”

I can't wait to hear the crowd cheering on their beloved Chargers in their brand new stadium! Awesome!

GO CHARGERS!
