Pearl City improves to 5-0 after defeating McKinley 23-0

Pearl City shut out McKinley 23-0 in Oahu Interscholastic Association Division 2 Varsity Football last night at Roosevelt High School's Ticky Vasconcellos Stadium.

Pearl City's Charles Freitas rushed for 58 yards on 12 carries with 2 touchdowns. Freitas got the Chargers on the scoreboard at 2:51 in the second quarter on a 2 yard touchdown run. The touchdown was set up a play earlier on a 36 yard reception by Brody Padilla from a fake punt by Zion Tupuola-Fetui 

Freitas scored his second touchdown on a 20 yard dash to end zone with 8:32 on the clock in the 3rd quarter. The Chargers made it 16-0 at 10:05 in the fourth quarter on a sack for a safety by Zion Tupuola-Fetui.

The Chargers scored their final touchdown of the ball game on a 23 yard TD pass from QB Kekainalu Simon to Calvin Mock with 6:22 remaining in the fourth quarter. Zameer Kahn tacked on the PAT to make the score 23-0.

Pearl City QB Kekainalu Simon completed 10 of 20 passes for 81 yards with one touchdown and one interception. McKinley starting QB Elyjah Badua completed 3 of 15 for  53 yards.

McKinley's Frank Steffany led all rushers in the ball game gaining 122 yards on 25 carries. Pearl City's Calvin Mock led all receivers with 4 catches for 55 yards and one touchdown.

Pearl City improved to a perfect 5-0 while McKinley remains winless at 0-5 in league play.

The Chargers return to action at home next Friday, October 7 against Kaimuki. Next Friday will be a very special night as the Chargers celebrate Homecoming as well as bid Aloha to their Seniors on their brand new stadium TURF! That's right, the new synthetic field is ready to go!!!!!
