Pearl City dropped their Oahu Interscholastic Association regular season finale 14-12 to Waialua on Friday on the road at Waialua High School's Toshiyuki "Toshi" Nakasone Stadium.
Waialua pounded out 259 yards on the ground led by Risein Campbell who rushed for 153 yards on 23 carries and teammate Howard Nahooikaika who picked up 96 yards on 11 carries with one touchdown. Nahooikaika scored Waialua's first touchdown on a 31 yard run with 7:41 on the clock in the 2nd quarter. Lance Kuni scored the Bulldogs second touchdown on a 7 yard touchdown pass from QB Tevesi Toia at 8:31 in the 3rd quarter.
Robert Yamasaki returned the following kick off for a touchdown that was called back due to a blocking penalty that placed the ball on the 10 yard line. Kekainalu Simon worked the ball down to the 1 yard line. Isaiah Asinsin scored on a quarterback sneak to put the Chargers on the scoreboard 14-6 at 6:27 of the 3rd quarter. Zameer Kahn's PAT was blocked.
The Chargers cut the Bulldogs lead to 14-12 on a 5 yard pass from Patrick Nunez, who lined up in his running back position and found Brody Padilla in the end zone for the score with 7:55 on clock in the 4th quarter. The Chargers attempted a 2-point conversion to tie the game but was turned back by a tough Bulldogs defense.
Both Pearl City and Waialua finished the regular season at 5-2 (league) and now head to next week's OIA D2 Championship Semifinals.

Brody Padilla returned a 4th quarter punt 34 yards to the 10 yard line and would
score a few plays later on a 5 yard pass from Patrick Nunez with 7:55 remaining on
the game clock. The Chargers pulled within 2 points of the Bulldogs at 14-12.
