Hawaiian Electric held their annual Arbor Day Tree Giveaway at the Urban Garden Center in Pearl City on Saturday, November 5 much to the delight of hundreds of early risers who lined up for the opportunity to choose  amongst dozens of varieties of island favorite trees, plants, and flowering shrubs.

University of Hawaii Master Gardeners from the Urban Garden Center helped residents choose a free tree and plant while answering questions and providing proper care for their selections along with a 2016 Arbor Day Plant information Guide and free tree-planting guide The Urban Garden Center also held their annual Arbor Day plant sale with proceeds to benefit and support the year round, great work of the staff and volunteers at the Urban Garden Center.

Hawaiian Electric's Arbor Day Tree Giveaway was presented in six locations on Oahu that featured popular native plants, fruit trees, spice plants, and flowering shrubs.

Hawaiian Electric Arbor Day Tree Giveaway was presented by the following partners: Hawaiian Electric, Kaulunani Urban and Community Forestry Program, U.H. Urban Garden Center, Wahiawā Botanical Garden, and Waimea Valley.

U.H. Master Gardener Mary Takeshita of Pearl City helped residents choose native

Residents were provided a special Arbor Day Tree Giveaway courtesy shuttle back

to their cars with their new trees and plants by U.H. Master Gardener volunteers.
