Mililani shuts out Pearl City 1-0 in a classic OIA championship dual

Mililani brought home another Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I Girls Soccer Championship as the defending OIA champions shut out the defending HHSAA state champion Pearl City 1-0 on Saturday at Castle High School.

Karlin Wurlitzer kicked in the winning goal on a free kick from 35 yards out at the 30th minute to lead the Lady Trojans (11-0-2) over the Lady Chargers (9-3-1) and repeat as OIA DI champions.

Both Mililani and Pearl City head to the HHSAA Division I Girls Soccer Championships scheduled for Monday, January 30, Thursday-Saturday, February 2-4 at high school sites and the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex.

Our defending state champion Lady Chargers will take their 2017 OIA championship runner-up finish into the 2017 state championship tournament where they will go up against the state's top schools from the OIA, ILH, BIIF, MIL, and KIF. Mililani, Pearl City, Castle, Moanalua, Kapolei, and Aiea will represent the OIA in the state championship tournament.

Pearl City''s OIA DI top ranked powerhouse scoring trio of  Daelenn Tokunaga, (leads the OIA D2 in scoring with 18 goals) along with teammates Randi Fontes (17), and Sunshine Fontes (17) will bring their skills and leadership experience into post season play in defense of their 2016 state championship title.

Waipahu wins OIA DII Crown!

Waipahu defeated Kalaheo 1-0 to capture the OIA Division II Championship Crown last night at Castle High School. Alysha Somera kicked in the winning goal at the 54th minute to lead the Lady Marauders over Kalaheo and claim the championship title.
