Mililani hands Pearl City first loss 6-1

After being ranked #1 earlier in day in both the Honolulu Star Advertiser and Scoringlive.com Division I State Softball Top 10 Polls, the Pearl City Lady Chargers suffered their first loss of the regular season 6-1 to Mililani in Oahu Interscholastic Association Western Division varsity softball played at Mililani High School on Tuesday,.

Mililani's Misha Carreira earned the win for Lady Trojans allowing one run on four hits with three strikeouts and three walks over seven innings.

Pearl City's Tyanna Kaaialii took the loss allowing six runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and six walks in six innings. It was the first loss of the regular season for the Lady Charger ace who is 5-1.

At the plate, Mililani's Tarah Aniya batted 2-3 with 3 runs scored. Markie Okamoto batted 1-3 with a home run, 2 RBI and 1 run scored. Merilis Rivera went 2-3 with 2 RBI and 1 run scored. Shannon Pascua-Stanton batted 1-3 with 1 RBI. Cherise Mori 1-3.

Pearl City's Jaeda McFarland batted 1-2, Darian Obara 1-3, Tyanna Kaaialii 1-3, Cheyne Obara 1-3.

Mililani improved to 4-2 while Pearl City comes in at 5-1 in league play.

Mililani jumped out early on the Lady Chargers scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Lady Trojans scored a single run in the bottom of the second inning and picked up their final runs of the ball game on a 2-run  homerun blast over the left field fence by Markie Okamoto in the bottom of sixth inning.

Pearl City got on the scoreboard in the top of sixth inning on a RBI single by Darian Obara that scored Kylie Tasaki.

The Lady Chargers return to the diamond at Nanakuli on Saturday, March 25. First pitch is scheduled for 10:00am.
