Pearl City gets back to .500 with 2-1 win over Kapolei

Cade Halemanu drove in Matt Aribal in the bottom of the sixth inning that broke a 1-1 tie and propelled Pearl City over the visiting Kapolei Hurricanes 2-1 in Oahu Interscholastic Association Western Division I varsity baseball played on Wednesday, March 22, 2017.

Pearl City and Kapolei entered the sixth inning tied at 1-1. Both teams scored a run apiece back in the second inning and went scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning.

The game was as a pitchers dual with Marcus Boyles earning the win for Pearl City in seven complete innings allowing one run on five hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

Garrett Wong took the loss in a solid performance for Kapolei allowing two runs on five hits with two strikeouts and two walks in six innings on the hill for the Hurricanes.

Pearl City's Cade Halemanu had a great day at the plate hitting 2-2 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored. Christian Onomura batted 2-3 while Kaleb Nishijo went 1-2 at the plate for the Chargers.

Kapolei's Andrei Stoyanow batted 2-3 with a double. Cobey Fujii batted 2-3, and Joe Uesato went 1-3.

Pearl City pulled even at 4-4 while Kapolei fell to 3-5 in league play.

The Chargers will host Leilehua (2-5) on Wednesday, March 29. First pitch 3:00pm. The Chargers will take aim at avenging a 12-4 loss to the Mules on March 3 at Leilehua.

Cade Halemanu was a force at the plate for the Chargers. Halemanu batted 2-2,

scored the Chargers first run in the bottom of second inning on a sac ground-out by Kulia Neal,

and picked up the game winning RBI that scored Matt Aribal that put the Chargers up 2-1
