Pearl City had no problem getting past visiting Kapolei in a 6-1 win in Oahu Interscholastic Association Western Division I varsity softball played on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Pearl City High School.
Tyanna Peanut Butter Kaaialii picked up her seventh win of the regular season holding Kapolei to one run on four hits with eight strikeouts and one walk in seven comp0lete innings for the Lady Chargers.
Sadie Kapaku-You took the loss for the Lady Hurricanes allowing six runs on eight hits with one strikeout and one walk in 5 2/3 innings. Tatum Guzman pitched 1/3 inning in relief of Kapaku-You.
Noel Saunders 2-3, 2 RBI, run scored and Hailey-Alexis Yamaguchi 3-3, RBI led the Lady Chargers at the plate.
Sadie Kapaku-You 2-3, 2B, and Ciena Kauhi 2-2, run scored, picked up the Lady Hurricanes four hits in the ball game.
Kapolei scored a single run in the first inning and were held scoreless the rest of the game. Pearl City came back and scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning to claim the lead and never looked back. The Lady Chargers scored one run in the fourth and three runs in the fifth to go up 6-1 over the Lady Hurricanes. It was the second win over Kapolei this season. The Lady Chargers defeated the Lady Hurricanes 9-3 in extra innings on Saturday, March 11 at Kapolei.
The Lady Chargers have three games remaining in their regular season schedule that will have an effect in determining the OIA Western Division champions and OIA championship tournament seeding.
