Kaaialii four-hitter, 6-run fourth, leads Pearl City past #3 Lahainaluna 6-1

Pearl City put together a 6-run, top of the fourth inning rally to beat #3 Lahainaluna 6-1 in the quarterfinals of the 2017 HHSAA Data House State Division I Softball Championship Tournament played on Thursday at the University of Hawaii's Rainbow Wahine Stadium. Pearl City's quarterfinal win advances the Lady Chargers to Friday's semifinals where they will meet Campbell at 4:30pm. Campbell defeated #2 Maryknoll 11-2 in Thursday's quarterfinal nightcap. #1 Mililani will face Kamehameha-Kapalama in Friday's second semifinal scheduled for 7:00pm. Mililani defeated Maui 8-7 while Kamehameha-Kapalama defeated #4 Waiakea 9-3 to advance to the semifinals.

Pearl City's Tyanna PB Kaaialii tossed a four-hitter to earn her second win of the championship tournament. Kaaialii allowed one run on four hits with seven strikeouts and two walks in seven complete innings of work for the Lady Chargers.

Taylor Asio took the loss for Lahainaluna. Asio pitched seven complete innings while allowing six runs on ten hits with five strikeouts and seven walks.

Pearl City exploded for six runs in the top of fourth inning. Darian Obara stroked a double to right field and advanced to third base on a wild pitch. Hailey-Alexis Yamaguchi drove in Obara with a RBI single to left field. Taylor Au came in to pinch run for Yamaguchi. Tyanna Kaaialii singled to right field. Au out at second. Maiki Au pinch runner for Kaaialii at first. Noel Saunders hit a single to left center. Au advanced to second. Runners on first and second. Cheyne Obara singled to center field to load the bases. Bryanna Passi walked scoring Au from third base. Taylor Shigeta hit a 2-RBI double to right field scoring Obara and Saunders. Kylie Tasaki walked. Jaeda McFarland struck out for the second out. Darian Obara walked with the bases loaded scoring Passi. Yamaguchi walked with the bases loaded scoring Shigeta from third. Kaaialii popped out for the third out. 6 runs, 6 hits, 3 LOB

Pearl City's Darian Obara came through at the plate and at her shortstop position

to earn impact player of the game for the second game in a row in the championship

tournament. Obara batted 2-2 with 2 doubles, RBI, and one run scored. Obara is

pictured hitting her first double of the game to left field in the top of the first inning.
