Rotary Club of Pearlridge “Good Citizen Award” presented at Manana Elementary

Congratulations to Manana Elementary School third grader Kristi Damasco who was presented a Good Citizen Award from the Rotary Club of Pearlridge on Wednesday in a special assembly held inside the school cafeteria. RCOP President Andrew Muccio along with RCOP Board Members Ed Kido and me, proudly announced and presented Kristi with her award along with a $50.00 check.

Vice Principal Mr. Alika Ahu, third grade teachers Cynthia Nagamine, Deanne Soon, and Iris Stokes, entire third grade class, and Kristi's Mom and Dad were also present in the Good Citizen Award presentation and recognition ceremony.

RCOP community volunteers visited 12 Pearl City and Aiea elementary schools in the beginning of the 2016-2017 school year to deliver and donate free dictionaries to over 850 third grade students and their teachers as a part of Rotary International's Dictionary 5000 Project. The students were introduced to Rotary International’s ”Four Way Test". Principles of the Four Way Test were included in each dictionary for the students to study and practice. Teachers selected one student to receive a Good Citizen Award from their third grade students who best exemplified the principles of the Four Way Test.

4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned.

Congratulations to Kristi and to all the students who studied hard and excelled in expanding their vocabulary and literary skills while incorporating the Four Way Test in their education experience. Eleven more students will receive their Good Citizen Awards in the next two weeks.
