Pearl City will play Waipio on Monday for the 2017 Hawaii Little League Majors District 7 Championship at Central Oahu Regional Park in Waipio.
Waipio beat Ewa Beach today to advance to the championship.
Pearl City (2-0) and Waipio (2-1) will play at 1:00pm at CORP. If Pearl City wins they will be crowned champions. If Waipio wins, the two teams will play again at 4:00pm in a winner-take-all championship game.
PEARL CITY 11 WAIPIO 7 – Second Round
Pearl City defeated Waipio 11-7 (F/7) in extra innings in the second round of the Hawaii Little League Majors District 7 championship tournament played on Saturday, June 24 at Central Oahu Regional Park in Waipio.
The win advanced Pearl City to the championship game on Monday, June 26 with first pitch scheduled for 1:00pm. Pearl City will have two opportunities to win the D7 championship with a 2-0 undefeated record in the double elimination formatted championship tournament.
Zarin Poopaa got the start pitching six strong innings for Pearl City. Poopaa also slammed a 2-Run homerun in the top of the seventh inning.
Asher Kwon added four more runs in the top of the seventh for Pearl City after belting a triple with the bases loaded and also scored on the play via a wild throw to third base.
Waipio rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning but came up short 11-7.
