Community volunteers from the Rotary Club of Pearlridge (RCOP) are excited to announce that they will once again deliver free dictionaries for the 2017-2018 school year to third grade students and their teachers representing 12 Pearl City and Aiea elementary schools.
The free dictionaries are being donated by the RCOP as a part of the annual Rotary International Dictionary 5000 Project. On Tuesday, September 5, the first of twelve dictionary deliveries and presentations will be made at Pearl City Highlands Elementary.
Over 800 free dictionaries will make their way into the third grade classrooms in the next few weeks.
Good Citizen Awards
With each school visit, the students will be introduced to the Rotary Club's "Four Way Test" that will help guide them toward being good citizens. Each dictionary includes the "Four Way Test" Principles for the students to study and practice.

1. Is it the truth;
2. Is it fair to all concerned,
3. Will it bring good will and better friendships,
4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned.
At the end of the school year, teachers will select a student from each school who best exemplified being a good citizen. Each student selected will recognized by the RCOP and presented a $50.00 check at their schools end of the year awards assemblies.
