Damien sweeps Pearl City 3-0 in first round of HHSAA D2 Girls VB State Championship Tourney

Damien junior outside hitter Shelby Capllonch led a potent Lady Monarch's offensive attack with 19 kills to help her team sweep the Pearl City Lady Chargers 25-9, 25-12, 25-15 last night in the first round of the HHSAA Division II Girls Volleyball State Championship Tournament played at Kaimuki High School. Capllonch also added six digs and four aces in the Lady Monarch's three-set win over the Lady Chargers.

Damien moves on to the championship touney quarterfinals against Maui Interscholastic League DII Champion Seabuy Hall tonight at Kaimuki High School at 7:00pm

Pearl City drops to the consolation semifinals and will take on Kohala of the BIIF this afternoon at Kaimuki High School at 3:30pm. Kohala was swept by Hawaii Baptist 3-0 last night at Kaimuki.
