Masons Union Local 630 gives Chargers field of dreams a facelift

Improvements to Pearl City High School's Charger baseball facility got underway on Saturday with the help of community volunteers representing Masons Union Local 630 and HMAA who are working alongside Chargers Head Baseball Coach Wes Yonamine to refurbish bleachers, pour concrete, and clean up dirt areas around the third base home dugout, batting cages, and behind the home plate fence area.

Peter Iriate from the Masons Union Local 630 is coordinating the community service project at the Chargers baseball diamond with the help of a great group of Local 630 and HMAA volunteers.

"We're out here today doing community service for Pearl City High School and the athletic department", said Iriate. "We have community volunteers from our Masons Union Local 630 and HMAA. We have members, staff coordinators, business agents, instructors, a  journeyman, and a mason apprentice all helping out,"

Coach Yonamine is grateful for the help of the community volunteers from Local 630 and HMAA, as well and from his friend Peter Iriati. With their help and expertise, Yonamine has hit the ground running in his efforts and goals to make immediate improvements to the Charger baseball facility since taking over this year as the Charger baseball program skipper.

"I can't thank Peter and his crew enough for all that they are doing to help us improve our baseball facility,"  said Yonamine. "We have a great friendship and partnership that with a little sweat equity will enhance our players, fans, and supporters Charger baseball experience."

Volunteers will be working through December to complete the project.
