The Pearl City Chargers improved to 4-1 in Oahu Interscholastic Association Western Division standings after beating the Kapolei Hurricanes 8-4 on Friday at Kapolei High School. The Hurricanes fell to 1-4 in league play. The Chargers turned back a bottom of the seventh inning four-run Hurricane rally to take home the win.
Cade Halemanu was superb on the hill and at the plate for the Chargers. Halemanu pitched 6 complete innings allowing no runs on 3 hits with 5 K's and no walks. Cade batted 2-4 with a triple, 3 RBI and a run scored.
Jansen Shigeta pitched the seventh inning in relief of Halemanu allowing 4 runs on 5 hits with no K's and no walks
Kapolei starting pitcher Shaden Ramelb took the loss for the Hurricanes pitching 4 1/3 innings and allowing 8 runs on 4 hits with 2 K's and 2 walks. Skyler DeLima pitched 2 2/3 innings of relief of Ramelb allowing no runs on 1 hit.
Pearl City lead-off hitter Matt Aribal fired up his hot bat with a 2-4 performance at the plate which included a triple and 2 runs scored
The Chargers return to action at home against Waipahu (0-5) on Wednesday, March 21 with first pitch scheduled for 3:00pm.

Pearl City relief pitcher Jansen Shigeta got a little roughed up
in his closer role on Friday, but came away with a save that
contributed to improving the Chargers regular season record to 4-1.
