Congratulations to the incredible Pearl City Chargers who captured the 2018 Oahu Interscholastic Association Division 2 Boys Volleyball Championship title after sweeping the Kalani Falcons 3-0 on Wednesday at Radford High School's James Allegre Gymnasium. The Chargers won in straight sets over the Falcons 25-20, 25-14 and 26-24.

Keoni Thiim led the Falcons with 12 kills, 1 ace, and 9 digs.

The Chargers championship win came from hard work, dedication and senior leadership that rallied their Charger teammates to play as one in their efforts to bring home the Chargers OIA D2 championship. The Chargers live and breathe by following their team philosophy based on A,C.E. – Attitude. Communication, and Effort.

Sean Chang, Charger Head Coach

"We put in a lot of work to get here and I'm just glad our work paid off. It's a great feeling and reward for our seniors. They put in a lot of work the past three or four years and I'm just glad we can have something to show for it. They key to tonight's win is in practice, we talk about what's called our ACE, our Attitude, our Communication, and our Effort.  We always say if we want success, we gotta have good ACE and tonight from the start we had it, and I'm very glad to see that we brought it tonight."

Jeremiah Perifanos-Taamu, Charger Senior

"It's been a long time since we won something, so this is great. It's a team victory for everybody. Glory to God, and I'm proud of my team for coming through tonight. Our coach is awesome. He's been great all season. He believed in us when nobody else did."

The Chargers (6-6) and Falcons (7-6) both head off to next week's HHSSA Division 2 State Volleyball Championship Tournament.
