LADY CHARGERS ADVANCE TO QUARTERFINALS AFTER POUNDING KEALAKEHE 19-4 (F/5)

Congratulations to the Pearl City Lady Chargers who opened the 2018 HHSAA Division I State Softball Championship Tournament today with an impressive, abbreviated, 19-4 (F/5th) first round win over Kealakehe at the University of Hawaii's Rainbow Wahine Stadium. The Lady Chargers scored 10 runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a commanding 19-4 lead forcing the 10-run rule after five complete innings.

Braelynn Kaulu-Choy Foo and Noel Saunders exploded at the plate for the Lady Chargers with Braelynn hitting 3-5 with a homerun, 4 RBI, and 2 runs scored and Noel red hot at the plate hitting 3-4 with a double, 4 RBI, and 3 runs scored. Alexas Presto-Ahsing batted 1-3 with a triple and run scored. Micalynn Nacnac batted 1-1 with a double, 2 RBI and run scored. Taylor Au went 1-3 with 3 runs scored. Cheyne Obara hit 1-2 with a run scored and Taryn Fujioka tore it up on the base path batting 1-3 with 4 runs scored.

Alexas Presto-Ahsing earned the win for the Lady Chargers pitching four complete innings while allowing no runs, three hits, with four strikeouts and two walks. Jozayah Iriarte closed it out in one inning of relief for the Lady Chargers.

Telsea Taketa took the loss for Kealakehe pitching five complete innings while allowing 19 runs on 11 hits with one strikeout and seven walks.

The Lady Chargers move on to the championship tournament quarterfinals and will face #1 Campbell on Wednesday with first pitch scheduled for 7:00pm at Rainbow Wahine Stadium.
